The claim with reason in this essay is located at the end of the second paragraph. It argues that text should not be criticized for weakening academic and language skills. On the other hand, text contributes to a promotion on youth creative writing.
Contradicted to the statement that texting hinders the ability to use proper English and causes broken English, the writer support the rationalization of texting in four ways. First, by demonstrating statistics and authorial evidences, the writer addresses that text takes up only a tiny part of instant messages which should not be worried too much about its bad influence. On the other hand, the usage of text reveals a good command of English since we cannot shorten the word if we don’t know what its original spelling is.
Moreover, the writer states that bad habits derived from uses of text is lack of duration since teenagers are particularly aware of the importance of formal writing. The writer demonstrates personal experience to proof how high-awareness has been developed among his friends and him when talking with authority like professors and writing papers.
Another reason he argues is that it’s normal to see new style of language coming out of Standard English. He uses Merriam-Webster’s compilation of “google” to support his idea. Historical evidence like Shakespeare’s creation of phrases is also cited as a strong proof of the argument.
I find this paper really persuasive since the thesis is transparent and evidences are variable and forceful. He particularly cites lots of authority evidences to support his idea which makes readers hard to disagree because we share a common appreciation and honor towards these authorities.
